11 saved after Indian cargo ship sinks near Oman

Muscat : Eleven people were saved after an Indian cargo ship sank near Oman

The ship was sailing from Sharjah to the Governorate of Al-Mukalla in Yemen when it faced a technical snag and sank.

According to a report in Arabic newspaper Oman, the ship was carrying cargo which included 69 cars, cooking oil and tyres.

It capsized 15 nautical miles from Al Suwaiyeh in Jalan Bu Ali, with 11 Indians on board.

Twenty five Omani fishing boats rescued 11 Indians who were left stranded for four hours in the sea.

The Indian social organisation, Pravasi Jalan, coordinated with local authorities to arrange accommodation for the rescued crew members who had also managed to save their passports.
