The Government Railway Police (GRP) sleuths have seized gold bricks weighing approximately 1.5kg at Guwahati railway station on Monday.

Two people, identified as Riyazuddin and Nasiruddin Ali, were arrested by the police. A GRP official said the duo were travelling from Manipur to Kolkata. “GRP sleuths caught the duo with the gold bricks. They could not produce any document of official approval for carrying them. We suspect the gold had been smuggled from Myanmar. We have already contacted the authorities concerned for verification purposes,” a GRP official said.

The arrestees, however, denied their involvement and claimed that the gold doesn’t belong to them.
